This technique works whether the awning is open or rolled up. Electric awning will not extend if the motorhome engine is running. The awning wont be extending if the motorhome was in running state. I don t know much about the remote.

If you are lucky you may just have a poor electrical connection. Awning will not open it s hard to diagnose problems long distance but one thing i would check would be wires on the switch itself. After researching a e awnings i have concluded that the electric motors that open and close them are not very reliable. If the awning won t extend or retract even though it had been working fine previously you re likely dealing with a power issue or a physical problem with the arms that move the awning.

Use the manual override if the motor is completely dead. Pull the support arm to release the ratchet attached to the other end of the lever. To open your rv awning first squeeze the support tabs on the awning which will release the travel locks. That s the standard behavior i have seen in most cases.

This will give you room to work. Once they re unlocked use the end of your awning rod to switch the ratchet mechanism to the open position. Extend your awning about 2 feet. Its to prevent it from accidentally extending across the roof when you are traveling.

At least in our motorhome this is the case. Tie the awning arms off to the bracket where it attaches to the side of your rv. One may have come loose. The struts that push out the awning usually won t get more tension they will loose it since they are filled with gas.

My mh is only a few years old and already the motor only functions intermittently.
